Rising Stars Holds College Skills Camp
Hayward Wis - On Tuesday, July 26, 2022 Rising Stars Basketball hosted a College Skills Camp featuring Matthew Gregory. Matthew Gregory is the Head Women's Basketball Coach for the Bay College Norse. Coach Gregory comes back to Lac Courte Oreilles, as he was the former Assistant Boys Varsity Coach for the Migiziwag Eagles in 2009 under Head Coach Curtis DeCora.

Coach Gregory gave his insider secrets into the recruitment process, how to get the attention of coaches, which drills you should be doing to prepare for the college game at your given position, as well as a personalized plan you can take home with your evaluation to improve your game, and increase your chances of playing at the next level.
Coach Gregory helped navigate the muddy recruitment waters, walked athletes through the necessary skills to play at the next level, why it is important to put academics as a high priority.
Coach Gregory led the athletes through leadership and character development sessions that included inclusive discussions and communication exercises.
About Matthew Gregory
Gregory also served as a Camp Coach at Marquette University in Milwaukee, WI and Butler University in Indianapolis. Prior to his time with Bay College, Gregory worked for the National Basketball Academy and the Indiana Pacers. He was tasked to serve as the Indiana Pacers Youth Camp Director and Trainer, as well as an AAU Coach and had the opportunity to coach and mentor many different age groups. In 2016 he led the seventh grade boy's basketball team that won the USSSA State Tournament Championship. Coach Gregory graduated from Northland College (Ashland, WI) in 2007 with a degree in Physical Education with a Coaching emphasis. During his time there he experienced college basketball as a player and a manager. His career started at the University of Wisconsin-Marinette where he was a member of the team for two years and was awarded the Most Improved Player in 2003. In 2004 he served as an assistant coach for the Buccaneers.
Curtis DeCora has been a skills trainer for the last 14 years having worked with athletes that went on to play NCAA DIII, NCAA DII, NAIA DI, NJCAA, and some into the professional ranks. Known for his advanced instruction and skills sessions, DeCora has a knack for turning novice players into highly skill positionless basketball players. DeCora was a three year starter at the Point Guard position while attending Northland College, and had short stint in the semi-professional league, American Basketball Association with the then, Minnesota Ripknees. Since 2008, DeCora has coached every level of basketball from recreational, to prep, to competitive AAU. In addition to many other accolades, DeCora is a Gold Licensed Coach by USA Basketball, and the Jr. NBA.
