Just A Game Fieldhouse has partnered with Wisconsin Badgers Men's Basketball Coach, Greg Gard and wife Michelle to bring both awareness and fundraising to the forefront. In this event, $50 of each team registration goes to cancer research within the Garding Against Cancer initiative. Rising Stars Basketball Gets InvolvedRising Stars Basketball of Hayward Wisconsin brings six (6) teams to the event totally a $300 contribution to the initiative. In an effort to help create greater awareness, the teams had planned on wearing pink socks, undershirts and headbands to join the awareness initiative.
Rising Stars Yellow Takes Home ChampionshipRising Stars Yellow, coached by Chandler Walowinksi took home the championship this weekend in Wisconsin Dells at the Just-A-Game Fieldhouse with a 3-0 record, and an overtime thriller win by 5 points against Chicago Hoops. Adel Amparo and Kinston Frey filled the stat sheets with 21 points and 19 points respectively to give Rising Stars Yellow the edge. Athletes from Hayward, Winter and Hurley make up the Rising Stars Yellow team.
Other Strong PerformancesRising Stars Black, coached by Hootie Hautamaki, played a really tough bracket, and finished 2nd with a loss to Closed Gyms but were able to secure wins against House of Wellness All Stars, and Chapman South. The ladies played a tough tournament with a fast pace, and balanced scoring attack. Athletes from Winter, Ashland and Birchwood make up the Rising Stars Black team.
The Rising Stars Silver squad with a surprising weekend, took home the 2nd place finish. They played very stingy defense giving up just 34 points per game, and scoring a low 39 points per game. Rising Stars Silver ran a well-oiled offense, and tight interior defense to give team fits and force the long-ball.
How did the rest of the teams perform?Rising Stars Gold, our 17U team finished the weekend 1-2 with a strong win over LHBM Elite 60-32 and two close games with UTF Fire, and JAG Select. Carter Petit had a strong performance over the weekend with 21 points, over 20 rebounds and almost 10 assists against LHBM Elite. Noah Lobitz and Adam Bednorski were solid from distance all weekend long, CJ Thompson played tough defense inside, and Jeridan Bigboy was a gremlin on the ball.
Rising Stars Bronze played tough but struggled to score the ball, giving up just 31 points per game, but scoring 23 points per game. Rising Stars White is getting better with each tournament, but as our developmental crew, they have a lot of fundamental work to do before pinning some Ws in the win column. After Action ReviewIn just our second tournamant appearance this summer, Rising Stars Basketball is really taking northern Wisconsin basketball and displaying our talents by getting big wins over clubs from Chicago, Milwaukee, Green Bay, and other larger clubs. While we do not recruit, nor do we hold tryouts, everyone that wishes to play can participate. We are considered a C-Team Club, which is a local basketball club, and do participate in regional and showcase level travel teams in most of the tournaments.
We don't use these performanes as excuses, but as a feather in our cap to help bring quality basketball, training, development and competition to the forefront to allow players to develop over the summer months. ConclusionRising Stars Basketball is a player-centered developmental program located in Hayward Wisconsin with year-round development programming. This includes Super Saturday's which are 2-hour workout sessions focused on developing the player individually with high-level skill work and fast paced competitive drills. In the summer months, we hold a 10-week intensive development program while competing in various AAU tournaments.
