Super Saturday: Free Skill Development WorkoutsEvery Saturday, Rising Stars Basketball hosts free workouts to anyone that wants to work on their game. Rising Stars Basketball fills a local gymnasium with athletes from all age groups, boys and girls, and runs them through a 2-hour workout.
The workouts are designed and taught by a USA Basketball Gold Licensed Coach, so the drills are age appropriate, and have training progression best-practices in mind. The workouts include 2-ball ball handling drills, scoring, shooting, and footwork. These workouts are free of charge, and focus on developing the player. Each workout consists of 100 game speed shots made by each athlete. We explore drills that include 2-ball Mikan drills, shooting on the move, 1-on-1 moves, and finishing with contact. The final 30 minutes, we split into teams and allow each athletes put their new skills into practice through 5v5 play. Skill Enhancement TrainingEvery athlete comes in with a specific set of strengths and weaknesses, we explore a wide range of drills that develop weak areas, as well as sharpen strong areas of their game. The vast majority of players lack ball handling abilities, whether it is using the dribble to create space, attack gaps, or beat a defender. We often see great shooters that cannot create their own shot. Our drills help athletes shoot on the move or off the bounce.
The 3-Level Scorer The 3-level scorer is one that can score at the rim with either hand, shoot the mid-range jumper, and splash a deep ball. Our emphasis is helping athletes develop their 3-Level game. The role player and one-dimensional athlete is becoming less common in today's game. Therefore, we're placing our focus on creating position-less basketball players. If we look at the various levels of basketball from prep to the pros, the majority of athletes finding success are those that can pass, dribble, and shoot. Athletes looking to develop their game are welcome to join us for Super Saturdays throughout the year. |
